This type of roller is traditionnally used when the appliance of a vibration mode for compaction of bitumen-concrete mixture is prohibited.
First of all, this is the compaction of bitumen-concrete mixture on bridges and overpasses, or near the buildings and installations.
Currently, three-drum static rollers have found wider application.
Recently, stone-matrix asphalt (SMA) has gained popularity as a surface material for roads with high traffic intensity. According to the Russian Construction Standards, a placed layer of SMA should be compacted at a maximum temperature ONLY by means of static heavy smooth drum rollers.
Compared to traditional tandem rollers, functionning in static mode, Raskat RC-10DD and RC-13DD three-drum static rollers are perfectly suitable for this kind of works due to their high linear static load.
Three-drum static roller can also be used for ground compaction — for example, at a final stage of stone-sand mixture compaction (so-called gutting). Here too, a high static linear load allows for the best results.
The Raskat three-drum static roller is the ideal choice for SMA compaction.
